Sweet November

The holidays are officially here. November always proves to be a busy month for us and this year was no exception. We started off the month by celebrating our 3rd Anniversary by hosting a dinner party for some friends. Then a few days later, we celebrated Marcus’ 27th birthday during our weekly English Corner.

We decided this year rather than buying gifts we would take a weekend getaway and go to Beijing. We visited the Beijing Zoo, got to see the Panda exhibit, spent a few hours in Ikea dreaming about how we would decorate a house if we had the money and space, and treated ourselves to Outback and Starbucks. We also spent some time listening to the Song of Solomon podcast series by Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church. (Highly Recommended) It was nice to spend this weekend together and take a look at our marriage and see how we can better serve and love each other during this coming year.

In Beijing, we picked up a few goodies for our Thanksgiving Feast including a ham and a $50 turkey to bring back to our city. The guys decided that this year for Thanksgiving they wanted to deep fry a turkey and spent all month researching the method and gathering the supplies. When it was all said and done, it was a huge hit. It was so tender and juicy– we all decided that a deep fried turkey is the best way to go.

We celebrated the Thanksgiving Holiday with 14 other Americans this year. We definitely had a feast thanks to all the people back in the States who sent us goods to make our favorite dishes. Even though we missed being with our family, we are so thankful that we have great friends here to help make the holidays so special.

30 Weeks

30 weeks, just 10 more to go (well more or less). Our original due date was Jan 13th but when we had our first ultrasound the baby measured small so the doctor thought maybe my “date” was off by a few weeks so my new due date was changed it to Jan 23rd. Then at our 26th week appointment the doctor was very surprised when she saw how big my belly was for just 26 weeks so she ordered another ultrasound which told us that either the baby might possibly come a week earlier, Jan 17th or I will be having a really big baby, or both!!! So actually our due date is somewhere in between Jan 13th-Jan 23rd. We are excited and ready to meet our son no matter when he comes!

I can’t believe how fast time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were calling our friends and family telling them the good news and now we are just weeks away. We will leave to go to Thailand in 4 ½ weeks. We will deliver our baby in Bangkok. The hospitals there are exceptional. We have to fly before 35 weeks so that means that we will have a few weeks to enjoy the warm weather, swim, eat Western food, walking (waddling) around the many malls which offer Auntie Ann’s Pretzels and amazing movie theaters that show movies in English!

I will leave you with my most recent belly picture. I can’t believe how BIG I’ve gotten- I’m scared to think about what I will look like as time grows nearer for Carson’s arrival.

Happy Halloween

We celebrated Halloween by having some friends over to watch The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and decorate cookies and cupcakes. We had a lot of fun celebrating with our friends.
Notice the way Marcus decorated his cookie. Marcus is sure hoping Tech wins today against Texas. We plan to get up early tomorrow morning to watch the game. There is a 13 hour time differece. Go Tech!

Our friends and their cute cookies! Good job.

Marcus and me taking time out to pose for a picture with the cookies we decorated for Halloween.

How cute!
