Retreat!!

We all need to retreat sometimes and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and refocus on the "main thing" once in a while. Living in a culture very different from America and doing the work that we do, we find ourselves needing to get away to recharge more often than we used to. Life isn't always easy here. The culture and language can take their toll on us, the work can be slow and discouraging at times, and we feel the attacks of the enemy more prevalent upon us here.

This past month our team set aside a few days to get away from the noise of the city and retreated to the mountains. It was so nice to enjoy the sounds of nature, take in the beauty of the mountains and the rolling river, and simply be still. We enjoyed the fellowship with our teammates which occurs over campfires, cabins with no TVs, computers, or schedules.

As we met together, we talked a lot about preserving. We looked at different Scriptures encouraging us to fight the good fight and finish the race well. We were reminded of godly examples that preserved through many hardships and trails all for the glory of God. God has called us all to preserve in our walk with Him, through the valleys and on the mountain tops. We have all been called to a difficult task, and the enemy will do whatever he can to discourage us and cause us to give up.

In the peace and quiet we heard God's still small voice reminding us that even when our strength and our hearts fail He is our portion. We can't walk this road of faith without Him. He will sustain us, strengthen us, and satisfy all of our needs. We may face difficulty and discouragement, but as we toil and labor for His name sake He will fulfill His purposes for our lives and for our ministry. What a mighty God we serve! Praise His name!
